Staying healthy and getting lighter in 2024 with some amazing adjustments

It's been a really good year filled with learning, discovery and some very encouraging results from my health experiments. It has taken me many months, starting seriously in March 2024 to more fully understand how nutrition, sleep and exercise impacted my blood sugar, metabolism and weight. Initially I did a 30 day reset using Dr. Gottfried's hormone reset protocol. From there, I simply began adding back a few more fruits and carbs,, carefully checking how these affected my appetite and mental clarity. Wearing a continuous glucose monitor has given me incredible insight into how to eat well, lose weight and actually feel possibly the best best I could imagine at age 65. I've also taken up weight training in addition to my daily Jazzercise habit. Adding two 30-minute sessions per week have allowed me to gain significant strength and maintain leaner body. I've even shed 3 inches from my waistline. I'm committed to eating more fiber and protein. Healthy fats and limitting sugar and carbs have provided a nice balance that is easy to maintain. I couldn't be more grateful.

Results:

Weight loss of 10 lbs

3 inches off waistline, 2 inches off hips

Sleeping consistently 7.5-8 hours per night per fitbit app

Comfortable high impact workouts and fast recovery after heavy weight training

Leg press increased from 110 lbs to 260 lbs as of this post

Who can I thank for these results?

  • LevelsHealth.com the source for my first CGM glucose monitor experiements

  • Casey Means MD and her new book Good Energy filled with science and recipes
